Emmanuel Church fringe events as part of Wimbledon BookFest 2018 
Emmanuel Church is hosting a weekend Christian Book Fair as a fringe event to the Wimbledon BookFest 2018.  

On Saturday 6th October we are delighted to present a unique line up of popular, talented and interesting authors and broadcasters who will be speaking on a wide range of Christian topics from, how to choose a children’s Bible to talks on how the human brain works.  We promise to have something for everyone.  And, if that’s not enough, on Sunday 7thOctober we are thrilled to be joined by a New York Times bestselling author.  We also have a HUGE bookstall to browse and buy from, so read on for details of the full programme and choose your events…


                                                Saturday Morning 6th October

Event 1 - Wimbledon Children’s Christian Book Fair
Aimed at toddlers and children of primary school age, their parents, carers, grandparents, godparents and anyone else looking to have some fun!
10am - Book readings from award-winning children’s author Alison Mitchell. Alison will also share some thoughts on how to choose a Children’s Bible for parents.
10.30am - Book Illustration and art session with award-winning local illustrator Catalina Eccheverri. 
11am - Book Readings by Tim ThornboroughWho hasn’t won any awards. Plus, advice for parents on: How to make bedtime reading more fun.
11.30am - Awesome Cutlery Gig. A wonderful Christian band with singable fun tunes, and lots of silliness for kids and parents alike. Get a flavor for their songs here 

This event finishes at 12.15pm.

                                                Saturday Afternoon 6th October

Event 2 - Talks from Local Christian authors 
2pm - The Centre Brain - Steve Adams
How do our brains work? And how does that relate to how we communicate effectively with others. This fascinating book by Steve Adams explores some of the latest research into how we give and receive communications. A great session for anyone who teaches in church or elsewhere, and who has a message they want to be heard and received.

Steve works with organizations and churches, on brand, story and communication, helping them to use the five "Centre Brain" prompts to trigger action. A popular conference speaker, Steve has also worked in TV, radio and magazines and as Tearfund’s Head of Global Brand and Communication.
3pm - Understanding the Christian Publishing industry - Tim Thornborough
Tim Thornborough gives us the inside track of how publishing works, and the state of the industry at the moment. A great event for budding authors or those interested in publishing.

                                                Saturday Evening 6th October

Event 3 - Don’t Judge a Book by its Cover
7.30pm An evening of readings, conversations and music for book loversJoin us for a fascinating and fun evening with four authors, a publisher and live music.
Publisher Tim Thornborough in conversation with Rebecca Manly Pippert (Out of the Saltshaker), author and illustrator Siku (The Manga Bible), broadcaster, blogger and journalist Anne Atkins (former Agony Aunt from the Daily Telegraph), and stand-up comedian and Children’s author Paul Karensa (tbc).
This will be an accessible event to invite friends and family to. Enjoy a glass of wine and refreshments. 
                                                Sunday 7th October

Event 4 - 3.30pm Francine Rivers in conversation with Sarah Hall 
New York Times bestselling author Francine Rivers has published numerous novels—all bestsellers—and she has continued to win both industry acclaim and reader loyalty around the globe.  Redeeming Love, Francine’s most well-known book, is now considered a classic work of Christian fiction and continues to be one of the Christian Booksellers Association’s top-selling titles; it has held a spot on the Christian bestseller list for nearly a decade. This year Francine published her new novel, Masterpiece. 


Doors open half an hour before each event. No advance booking required. Events cost £5 on the door with the Children’s Christian Book Fair costing £5 per family.
